The Glossary feature allows individuals to create, maintain and view a list of definitions associated with their area of study on Learning Space.

For example a Journalism module might use a glossary to define words related to publishing and the press. You can then contribute additional terms and add definitions and links where required.

A glossary can be identified by the file icon . To view the glossary click on the title.

From this view you are able to see the entries contained within the glossary with a description at the top of the page. You are able to search the glossary in several ways; the search box at the top of the page allows you to search the glossary using specific terms,

you are also able search the glossary via the browsing tabs, or through the alphabetical index. The default option is set to view all but this can be changed depending on how you wish to search.

Entries within the glossary can contain a variety of information. Some glossaries allow for user comments under the entries, this depends on how the glossary has been configured by the award/module leader/s.

In our example, we're looking at a simple entry which presents the definition of the word Lemon. Using search full text, all references to the word “lemon” will be highlighted.

The word is presented along with a small definition, and in our case there is also a link to further information.

Images can also be attached to definition entries within the Glossary.

In our "Banana" entry there is an attached image, shown as a .jpg file. The attached image can be opened by clicking on the title.
