What is choices

The Choice feature within Learning Space allows users to select from a variety of choices presented to them. An area which contains a Choice activity can be identified by a question mark icon, as shown below:

Using choices

Enter the choice activity by clicking the title. You will then be presented with a screen which looks similar to the following.

On this screen you are presented with three different areas. Firstly the choice description can be seen at the top of the activity panel. In this example the text reads “Select your favourite colour”.

Underneath the description section you are presented with the choice options. The amount of choice options will differ, in this example there are 5. Each choice can be individually named. For example you may be asked which day is most suitable for a field trip, and the choices could represent days.

The final section on this page is the “Save my choice” button, this is used to submit your choice. In most cases the first choice is final, however, some choice activities allow you to revisit and amend your decision. This will depend on how the activity has been created, and should be stated in the description text section at the top of the page.

To make a choice click on the required choice option. In this example Green has been selected.

Once you are happy with the selection you have made click the “Save my choice” button. You will then be presented with the following screen.

A review of your selection can be seen. If the Choice activity had been set to allow results to be viewed, they would appear on this screen.

The choice activity has various views and options, for example the choices could be displayed vertically, and you may be able to review and amend your initial choice.

If you have any questions about how the Choice activity has been configured please seek advice from the relevant module/award leader/s.
