What is a Technical Resource Area?

The Technical Resource Area is a single page used for all courses from a particular school, for example the School Of Art will have a page shared between Drawing, Illustration and Fine Art. The area should be used for content that is useful for students from more than one course within the school, this could include competitions, technician sign ups, specialist software guides etc.

Who is responsible for Technical Resource Areas?

The Technical Resource Area is managed by the Technical Manager of each school, however resources may be uploaded by technicians and teaching staff. Please contact the relevant school Technical Resource Manager for more information. Staff can also search the Learning Space for Resource Areas here.

What should each area contain?

Content varies drastically from school to school however most Technical Resource Areas will contain guides on specialist equipment or software, booking instructions for equipment/space, technician sign ups, competitions, trips and general information multiple courses within a school will benefit from.

How do students get access?

Accessing their own schools resource page

Students are automatically subscribed to their school's respective Technical Resource Area and they can navigate to it from the Learning Space homepage or by using the menu on the left.

Accessing another schools resource page

Some schools allow all students at the university to self-subscribe to their Technical Resource Area. Please find the list of schools that are open to all students.

Students who do not have access to a Technical Resource Area open to all students will need to be provided with a link, i.e. a Fine Art student will not be able to view the Institute of Photography's page unless they have a link to it. We recommend staff add these links to course pages.
