Before you start: provisioning modules in Learning Space
Provision module or course in Learning Space
In order to create the integration between Panopto and your Learning Space modules or courses, you may need to ‘Provision’ the module from within Learning Space. This automatically creates a folder in Panopto which is linked to your Learning Space module or course area and grants relevant permissions. Due to other processes during module creation, this step maybe have been completed for you, if not please follow these instructions.
- Navigate to https://learningspace.falmouth.ac.uk/
- Navigate within Learning Space to the module or course you want to provision.
- Click the green Turn editing on button in the top right-hand corner.
- A black chevron will appear slightly to the right of the Turn editing on button. Click on this chevron and the Block tray will pop out from the right-hand side of the screen. The Panopto Block will be visible. Click on the words Provision Course in the Panopto block.
Repeat this for any modules or courses with which you wish to use Panopto.

Embedding Panopto videos in Learning Space
There are two recommended ways to insert Panopto videos into Learning Space. You can either embed videos in section headings or labels using the Panopto LTI button in the Rich Text Editor, or you can add a Panopto activity to create a link in the module which opens videos in a separate page.
Using the Panopto button to embed content
One way of embedded Panopto content into Learning Space is to use the Panopto button, which appears in every rich text editor (anywhere you can add text) in your module once the module has been correctly provisioned. See guidance above for how to provision a module.
This guidance is how to create a text and media area and add video content to it. This will display inline in your module.
1. Switch edit mode on, and add a new activity or resource.
2. Select a 'Text and Media area' which was previously called a label.
3. In the rich text editor, use the Panopto button to either choose, upload, or create Panopto video and embed it into the section that you're editing.
4. Save and view the text and media area.
Student use of Panopto in Learning Space
Every Falmouth student has access to a Panopto My Folder where they can upload and share video and audio content. This content can be embedded in Learning Space via the rich text editor in any activities where students can post (eg forum activities).
Panopto can be used to enable student video and audio assessments. This will be facilitated by students uploading videos to their Panopto My Folders, setting viewing permissions, and putting a link to videos into a word document which will be submitted through a Learning Space assessment. Guidance for students can be found on the Submitting a video assessment using Panopto guide.
Organising your content in Panopto
One of the most useful features of Panopto is that you can use it to organise your videos into folders. This feature is really powerful because Panopto is integrated with Learning Space, and provisioning a module in Learning Space creates a connected folder in Panopto which automatically grants viewing permissions to all of the staff and students on that module.
Content for teaching and learning should be kept in module folders in Panopto (not your My Folder) in almost all cases.
This video will talk you through:

Panopto in Falmouth Learn
Core content
All Falmouth Online core content videos will be hosted on Panopto. For Falmouth Online academics, an introduction to the process of using Panopto can be found in Panopto Processes for Falmouth Online.
Student use of Panopto in Falmouth Learn
Every Falmouth student has access to a Panopto My Folder where they can upload and share video and audio content. This content can be embedded in Falmouth Learn via the rich text editor in any activities where students can post (eg forum activities).
Panopto can be used to enable student video and audio assessments. This will be facilitated by students uploading videos to their Panopto My Folder, setting viewing permissions, and putting a link to videos into a word document which will be submitted through a Canvas assessment. Guidance for students will need to be discussed with your Learning Designer and included in your module content.
'Introduction to Panopto' guidance videos
The following videos (and more) are available in Panopto when you log in, located in the Get started with Panopto folder.
- Tour of the Video Library
- Getting started: View a video
- Getting started: Record a video
- Getting started: Edit a video
Embedding Panopto videos in Journal
Panopto videos can be embedded into Journal using Panopto embed codes. Bear in mind there is no integration between Panopto and Journal, so videos should be embedded with Public Unlisted viewer permissions.
Using Panopto in Padlet and MURAL
Panopto videos can be linked to from Padlets and MURALs, but due to the ways that these systems work there is currently no facility to embed Panopto videos directly into the platforms.
Links to Panopto videos can be found by hovering over the relevant video in Panopto, clicking the share button, setting the correct permissions and clicking 'Copy Link', and then pasting that link into Padlet or MURAL.
